About

Edie (they/them) is a multimedia artist, flutist, and composer working primarily with sound, sculpture, & drawing. They are from Treaty 4 and 6 in Saskatchewan. They are currently based on unceded lək̓ʷəŋən Traditional Territory also known as Victoria, BC, where they are an MFA candidate at the University of Victoria. They studied at the University of Regina, Saskatchewan, receiving a BA in Philosophy (honours) and a BFA in Visual Art – Printmaking (distinction).

Their work focuses on building uncanny and generative installation spaces through the intersection of light, sound, people, duration, and tactility. They are interested in collecting and collaging field recordings and improvisational sound, how sound and light creates or erases spatial boundaries, sculpture, tenderly noticing their environment, future archives, dreams, and the weaving together of different sensory mediums. They are interested in engaging playfully with new and found materials to create immersive environments, often treating the installation as score.

They are 1/3 of the experimental sound trio Bell Dreams - playing the flute, piccolo, clarinet, found objects, electronics, and vocals. They are a prior member of the Saskatoon Experimental Music Ensemble – which focuses on composition, collaboration, and improvisation.
